2011 Interns:

MorningstarJESSICA MORNINGSTAR is studying commerce as an undergraduate at the University of Virginia. She has a passion for those less fortunate and aspires to use her career to help impoverished people around the world. In the summer of 2011, she worked with Christian Fellowship Church in partnership with Peace Inc. to implement a holistic adult literacy program in rural Nicaragua. Jessica reflected upon the role that faith and spirituality play in different aspects of the literacy program—specifically the relationships between teachers and students, the program design and effectiveness, the attitude of the students and even their decisions about what to do after they finish their education.

GamperCATHERINE GAMPER was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and is an undergraduate majoring in Religious Studies and French at the University of Virginia. During the summer of 2011, Catherine worked in Washington, D.C. for ONE, an organization that raises awareness to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. At ONE, she focused on the ONE Sabbath, working to facilitate action in local congregations and faith communities. Read Catherine's final paper.
