Recording of a lecture given by John M. Perkins at the Spring Institute for Lived Theology 2009 in Charlottesville, Virginia. The lecture begins at the 23rd minute marker, after Charles Marsh welcomes the group, Alex Mejias leads music and Eddie Howard introduced Perkins. Perkins breaks his lecture into two phases, first sharing the history and background that shaped his life and work. In the second phase, he discusses leadership and vision and Perkins’s philosophy on leadership.

Excerpt: “What is the great need? People need their dignity affirmed, they need their humanity affirmed…the second need is the need to belong, to be significant, because we are significant.”
