What does it mean to “be reconciled” in a divided world? For the editors and contributors of Katallagete, that question reached into every corner of Christian life.

Published by the Committee of Southern Churchmen and edited by James Y. Holloway and Will D. Campbell, Katallagete: Be Reconciled brought theological reflection into conversation with urgent social and political questions. Its pages explored racial injustice, war, economic inequality, education, imprisonment, and the church’s responsibilities in the world. Contributors included Thomas Merton, William Stringfellow, Jacques Ellul, Walker Percy, Fleming Rutledge, and many others.

The Project on Lived Theology’s collection offers readers an opportunity to encounter these conversations through full journal issues. For students, scholars, clergy, and anyone interested in the relationship between Christian faith and public life, these writings invite fresh engagement with questions that remain with us today.

The available PDFs are listed below in volume and issue order. Combined files are identified together.

Readers can also consult the Katallagete article index to locate individual authors, essays, and subjects.

We invite you to explore this collection and consider how its challenging, sometimes unexpected voices might inform the practice of reconciliation in our own time.
