Carlene Bauer

Carlene Bauer is a writer whose publications include the memoir Not That Kind of Girl (HarperCollins, 2009) and the novel Frances and Bernard (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2014). Her work has been published in The Village Voice, Salon, Elle, and The New York Times Magazine.

Bauer delivered the lecture “A Seminar on Faith and Writing” as part of the 2013 Virginia Seminar in Lived Theology and is an author of a chapter on Dorothy Day for our book Can I Get a Witness? Thirteen Peacemakers, Community Builders, and Agitators for Faith and Justice.
